Annual Day 2017 "Everyday Heroes"

‘Step by Step Centre for Special Needs’ celebrated their 6th Annual day on the 8th April, Saturday at Qatar University Research Complex Auditorium. The event welcomed more than 160 attendees who also enjoyed a platform for the children to showcase their skills through dance and music, robotics displays, and an Autism VR simulator in an effort to create a more positive experience for people with autism and their families. All participants lauded the efforts and congratulated the children on putting up a great show. 
Amongst the prominent speakers invited were #DrJohnJohnCabibihan, Associate Professor Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Qatar University, who explained their research projects on using robots for therapeutic interventions, in addition to #DrFathimaJanjua, Acting Division Chief for the Division of Developmental Pediatrics at Sidra Medical and Research Center who advised on the medicinal interventions and various treatment approaches Autism, differentiating the evidence-based intervention programs from therapies that claim to 'cure' Autism and finally suggest parents looking for support to seek out reliable information before making any decisions from trained professionals.

The theme of the program "#EverydayHeroes" represents the parents of Autistic children, and the children themselves, and is aimed to demonstrate the difficulties and triumphs they face each and every day.
